I am a first-year student, eager to begin the new year and hopefully be your President of BiochemSoc!
My goals:
Assistance:
- Work with Imperial’s staff to provide students more biochemistry-oriented information on where our degree can take us. Help take off some stress off our shoulders about the future.
- Organize short, routinely workshops where first-year students can come ask any questions to upperclassmen.
Collaboration:
- I would work hard to encourage biochemists of all year groups to engage with each other and help each other.
- Take advantage of our university’s academics so that they could get involved in our society’s events. I plan on organizing talks that the members find interesting and hopefully learn without pressure.
Empowerment:
- As a first-year student, I benefitted from having biochem-parents. I want to continue this program to help incoming students settle into university.
Why me?
- I think that I would be able to easily adapt to my new role as President; quickly pick up and learn how to be the most effective and cooperative leader I can be.
- I am an easy person to talk to; open to committee/society members approaching me to share any concerns and/or innovative ideas!
- I have strong leadership and organizational skills that I have developed throughout my time in school. I organized weekly visits to a children’s refuge back home for the past two years.
I want to unite the society, be a source of support and fun to make the most out of your time at Imperial :))
