Kanyin Arikawe
Hi everyone, I'm Kanyin, a second-year med student, and I'm eager to serve as your welfare officer next year.
Navigating university life can be challenging, especially in the first year, but even beyond that. As welfare officer, I would be committed to continuing to foster the warm and welcoming environment I've experienced since joining ACS. I believe in the importance of building connections within the community across years and disciplines and would do it in the following ways:
Enhancing ACS families: I’m passionate about continuing to improve our ACS families initiative to help provide even greater support to our members. I understand the importance of mentorship, and by enhancing the current programs in place, as well as organizing regular check-ins and bonding events, I will ensure that every member in the society feels connected and supported regardless of their year and discipline.
Accessible support: My training as a peer mentor in sixth form equipped me with the skills I would need to provide support to anyone who might need it. Be it offering a listening ear, being a shoulder to lean on, or signposting members to resources, I will work to create an environment where everyone is heard.
Tailored events: I understand that there would be diverse interest and needs in our community and so would work to organize events that are tailored to various preferences.
With your support, I would love to continue to build this supportive and inclusive community in ACS as your welfare officer!
