Max Matta
Hi everyone! My name is Max and I am an ideal candidate for AFP lead as I am passionate about research as well as teaching and organising events, and I have valuable skills I am keen bring to SORA.
In 2021, I orchestrated a 60-person charity marathon and organised and advertised a clothing collection for refugees in Lebanon involving 3 local schools. This involved leading a team of 10, liaising with charities and shipping companies, and utilising various strategies to drive donations. I have also been a member of Imperial's Right to Play committee, responsible for the annual UH sports night involving 1,700 students from all 5 London medical schools. I was also publicity officer for Meeting of the Minds, promoting and helping organise the UK's largest university neuroscience conference. These experiences have helped me foster leadership, teamwork and organisation. I have also been a MedEd crashcourse tutor for both phases 1a and 1b, through which I have honed teaching and communication skills.
I have conducted research with an AFP doctor and have learned a lot about life on the pathway. I would love to use this connection and knowledge to organise events and talks for aspiring academic clinicians. SORA and other societies have helped me massively throughout my time at ICSM and I would love to give back to the society as well as the wider ICSM community through this role.
Overall, my experience and skills coupled with my passion for research make me the perfect candidate.
