Khushi Dakshini
It would be a pleasure to be elected as Secretary of Dermatology Society. I am interested in the field and have the skills necessary to thrive in the role.
I have been looking into the research around skin disorders and how autoimmune conditions can have a long-term impact on the appearance of skin, affecting patient wellbeing. I'm interested in the emergence of novel treatments for cutaneous autoimmunity, such as JAK inhibitors. Having met some dermatologists, I've had the opportunity to learn more about everyday skincare and the benefits of particular ingredients to the skin, specific to ethnicity and an individual’s melanin levels. Through my current awareness + further desire to continue learning about the field, I will be a valuable committee member.
I believe I have the skills and experience to be successful in the secretarial position. Previously in subcommitee of Hindu Society, and currently Publicity Officer, I am responsible for promoting events and providing updates via all social media platforms. This has helped me develop great communication, organisation and effective time management skills through planning posts + messages in a prompt fashion. I would ensure to do the same as secretary: that updates + newsletters are regularly sent to members.
As a tutor I formulate weekly agendas, plan and deliver each lesson. By using a student progress tracker I have developed my administration skills, which I will transfer to my role as secretary. I am confident to organise committee meetings, take minutes of the meeting + lead admin tasks.
