Gabrielle Boyer
Hello fellow dodgeballers,
The close-minded will wonder why I’m running for women's 1s captaincy, having never been on their team, but I shall correct you now: I have played on the women's 1s in opens ie. when they were scared of lacking skills and squad dept, they called me to the rescue.
The dodgeball club has been disrespecting me for the last two years, getting my name wrong in team sheets, nearly forgetting me in Portsmouth, using the best ever picture of me for the Women’s 2 chat picture, abducting me in Las Iguanas in Ealing Broadway (they had told me Hammersmith)… yet I’m still here,so if this doesn’t demonstrate commitment,I don’t know what does.I’ve given away my nights and sanity for this club, and I don’t intend to get these back next year.
Playing these last two years (even covering extra shifts every week training outside Imperial dodgeball) has given me lots of knowledge and experience when it comes to dodgeball.Having no natural talent,I’ve been through all the learning steps, and every aspect of dodgeball I’ve struggled with (so basically everything) is a point I can help someone else improve on.As far as I know, raw strength and natural talent aren’t things that can be shared to train a team, but experience and knowledge that I have can.
As women’s 1 captain,I’ll bribe more women into our cult, through women-only training sessions and socials. Also,if we have the interest (and the money),I will advocate to enter a team in regionals (Baby Wolverines has a nice sound to it, doesn’t it?)
