Prabhas Vedagiri

Hi there! If we haven't had the pleasure of meeting yet, my name is Prabhas and am looking to run as Postgraduate and Alumni liaison for DoCSoc 24/25! (as well as sponsor liaison). I am a confident and outgoing computing second-year, and I'm sure anyone who knows me will tell you the same.

I believe I am the ideal candidate for this role given my previous experiences:

• As sponsor liaison in DoCSoc this year, I am well accustomed to working on committee and aware of the required correspondence required with ICU to organise postgrad and alumni events
• I am an effective communicator given experience as academic rep in first year and sponsor liaison this year
• I have experience attending networking events such as CogX/BigDataLdn. Combined with experience organising sponsor events and ICHack, I am well-equipped to organise new PG/Alumni events in the future.

As postgraduate and alumni liaison, I pledge to:

• Create new networking events bringing sponsors, alumni and members together for the first time
• Maintain constant communication with Postgraduate students to understand how to improve their experiences of DoCSoc, tailoring more events for PGs going forward
• Advertise industrial and academic employment opportunities targeted for postgraduates
• Continue exploring exciting ways to bring alumni together after graduation

As someone already familiar with DoCSoc and the Union, I wish to capitalise on this to find new ways to improve the student experience.
