Aditi Kulkarni
Hi! I’m Aditi, heading into my final year of Medical Biosciences and I’m excited to stand for Vice President of the IC Computational Biology Society.
I am fascinated by Computational Biology’s enormous potential in research and medicine to accelerate drug discovery, personalised treatment and optimise healthcare. I am involved in research at the NHLI where I have used techniques like RNA sequencing, protein-peptide interaction modelling and peptide designing to better understand cardiac disease, and will soon be working on integrating cellular mechanisms into the cardiac digital twin.
I believe that the CompBio Society is an excellent interdisciplinary hub for members to delve into computational methods to solve biological problems. As VP, I hope to provide opportunities for members to develop cross-discipline skills through collaborations with DataScienceSoc and DocSoc (coding, big data analysis, machine learning) and societies like ClinGen and Personalised Medicine for cutting-edge domain knowledge. I will organise avenues for mentorship from postgraduates with first-hand experience in the field. Coupled with more networking events, this will offer members valuable guidance and connections.
Inspired by the vision of our former President, Lucie, I hope to build on her work and am committed to working closely with the President and executive team to foster a vibrant community of computational biologists. Together, we will organise engaging seminars from experts, coding workshops, and our flagship conference to support our members and promote the advancement of computational biology at Imperial.
Vote Aditi for VP, I look forward to serving the computational biology community!
