Jonathan Kow

Hi, I’m Jonathan, and I’m running to be your next Conference Lead. I am running for this position as I believe that it is important to provide students with the opportunity to explore lifestyle medicine as we will be the future generation of healthcare professionals responsible for advising future patients to live healthier to either prevent, mitigate or treat ill health.

As this year’s Young Researchers’ Conference Chair, I worked with a team of around 10 people and organised a full-day in-person conference for over 40 delegates. The conference programme included lectures and workshops on a range of academia-related topics and a poster competition. I believe that this experience will help me lead a successful Nutritank conference if elected.

As Conference Lead, I will aim to:

Ensure inclusivity and diversity by:

• Creating a welcoming environment and assistance for participants with disabilities.
• Inviting a wide range of speakers from different backgrounds.
• Ensuring a diverse organising committee. Collectively, this will help to ensure that the conference is inclusive and reflects a range of perspectives.

Make the conference accessible and enjoyable for all participants by:

• Selecting an accessible venue.
• Providing adequate breaks with well-stocked refreshments to allow attendees to rest and recharge.
• Ensuring equal access to networking opportunities.

Build a strong conference committee by:

• Recruiting capable and proficient members.
• Recruiting members from a wide range of backgrounds.
