Saanvi Singh
I was the Academic Events officer last year and was successful in organising academic talks, bioinformatics workshops, guided tours in Kew, tea afternoons and many other events.
I am again standing for this position because of 3 main reasons-
1) Prior experience- I was able to collaborate, organise and communicate well with the BioSoc committee
2) Listening- I believe listening to another persons’ opinion is as important as voicing your own. I am open minded, able to comprehend issues and find better solutions.
3) Commitment- I believe in taking care of all my duties responsibly and fulfilling them with dedication and hard work.
In the last 2 years I have gone through rough patches, been a part of multiple societies and found a way to make Imperial feel like home. I understand the importance of social academic events and how to organise interesting and enjoyable talks, workshops and trips.
This year I plan on coming up with new ideas alongside your valuable participation, to ensure an enjoyable and eventful year ahead!
I plan to:
- Organise events where students can interact like social gatherings, academic talks, workshops, day trips
- Set up online groups for sharing academic doubts where older students can help and share resources
- Create anonymous forums for voicing sensitive issues including issues regarding the stress and fast- paced environment at Imperial
- Organise study groups where topics of discussion can be decided unanimously
The best of the best come to Imperial, I believe we can make that even better!
