Tariniya Vijay
Vanakkam! My name is Tarni, and I’m running for head of subcommittee next year.
When I first joined TSOC, I felt included and part of a tight-knit community. This inspired me to attend many events, deepening my appreciation for TSOC's togetherness. I want to pass on this feeling and ensure the next cohort of freshers feels as welcomed as I did.
Being part of the subcommittee gave me a realistic insight into how TSOC operates. Organising games night as part of the admin team allowed me to collaborate with other subcommittee members, showcasing my communication skills and dedication. Helping out on sponsorship day demonstrated my willingness to go above and beyond to support TSOC.
This role involves welfare, and I believe I am a friendly, approachable person who will encourage others to come to me with any issues. I will motivate new freshers to get involved in TSOC and integrate them into our community. I plan to introduce more events for freshers, particularly in the second and third terms, such as an escape room and mini-golf. I want to ensure TSOC families come together once every term through dinners or games nights, fostering bonds and allowing freshers to connect with older students for advice and support.
TSOC has created many cherished memories for me this past year, and I have made lifelong friends from the very first meet and greet. Ultimately, I want to give back to this society and thank them for truly changing my university experience.
