Maria Gebus

Hi everyone! My name's Maria and I would love to be women's 2s captain because over the past year, I have really enjoyed competing with the team and would like to help develop the team further, and possibly get our 1st win next year. :) I would try to improve women participation in the club by organising socials such as jewellery making, movie nights or rollerskating socials and encourage more women to play in BUCS and opens (which are actually surprisingly fun, even when you lose every match). What I still lack in terms of skills, I make up for with a positive attitude (and maybe a touch of delusional optimism), and I think I have the necessary leadership skills to be an effective captain, as proven by my successful campaign for post-Sports Awards Embargo's. When I joined dodgeball, I did not expect to spend a 3 hour coach ride learning how to make calls or to be stealing dodgeballs during competitions to practise throws in the corridors, but I have learned a lot throughout this year and am passionate about making the women's 2s the best they've ever been.
