Psychiatry: Open Minds Programme Lead

With mental health being something that has personally impacted my family, I want to do anything I can to promote the importance of mental health in those around me. From understanding the warning signs to knowing the best ways to look after your mental health, my aim for this role is to engage children and adolescents in the steps they need to take to keep their mental health in the best possible state.

With this role, I would like to introduce mental health workshops, which aim to teach positive routines to children and young adults to manage their mental health at this critical time in their development. I have a range of experiences working with children and adolescents including teaching first aid and volunteering with Teddy Bear Hospital. I have learnt from these experiences the importance of interactive workshops to allow for engagement and understanding of concepts. I hope to create activities to allow for the complex topic of mental health to be concise and easy to understand.

By spreading awareness of mental health conditions and the warning signs, I hope to promote the importance of mental health to the children around me and teach management techniques to maximise their mental health for the future.
