Plastic Surgery: Secretary

Hello! I am Abigail/ Yun Hui, and I am running to be Secretary of iPRAS! Some of you saw me running around RCS with the camera and sling bag, taking photos during Reconstructing the Stereotype and Microsurgery conferences. Yes, that’s me!

Having been part of iPRAS subcommittee for the past year, I helped in tasks from procuring conference supplies, refreshments and set up/ cleanup, to ushering and interacting with delegates and demonstrators. This has given me a deeper understanding of the logistics, coordination and flow needed to run conferences. I believe I am equipped to step up and lead more conference preparations as secretary of the iPRAS committee.

I was previously Vice-President of a nursing home volunteering programme, where I guided volunteers to plan activities catering to specific needs of the elderly. I helped to facilitate committee meetings on the direction and planning of the programme, while liaising and coordinating with volunteers and nursing home staff. Indeed, I have also taken meeting minutes several times before. These faciliation and liaison experiences would prepare me to coordinate with the iPRAS members, delegates and committee effectively.

Moreover, I have been in charge of writing and editing the newsletters for my high school's mathematics and chemistry interest groups, where I utilised visuals, real-life applications and trivia to make math and chemistry concepts come alive. I believe this experience enables me to design the iPRAS newsletter effectively to engage members, and I also hope to incorporate some plastic surgery fun facts/ interesting news too.
