Clinical genetics is one of the most important aspects, in allowing medicine to progress in the 21stcentury. The increasingly innovative ways of facing today’s problems can be attributed largely to the increase in interest towards clinical genetics.
Hvaing been to some of the clinical genetics events, I was inspired to run for treasurer, to help with the running of these events. Having, chaired the TedX talks at my school, I have experience in being able to organise a successful speaker-based event, in which I was in charge of budgeting the amount of money provided by the school to ensure the running of a successful event. Furthermore, I was also in charge of organising fundraising events for a charity, in which I had to handle a lot of money and keep tight records on all the money that had been raised and spent.
As treasurer some of my main aims would be:
- Maintaining up to date records of all transactions that have been undertaken
- Keeping all parties involved in the loop as to the budget that they are provided
- Providing advice on how to stay in budget, having had to overcome the difficult experience of sticking to budget while organising my TedX talks
- Aiding the sponsorship officer using the skills I gained from organising my own fundraising events
