Having enjoyed my GP placements over the last 2 years, I have learnt a lot about how to make the most of them and get contacts that help you navigate medical school for the future. It is an invaluable opportunity to develop networking skills for any projects that you might need to present. Of course, do not forget that placement is meant to be an experience to make memories with your friends as well.
