Sharini Seyone
Vanakkam! I’m Sharini and I’d love to be your Head of Culture next year!
Having participated in multiple cultural programmes through Tamil School and temples, I feel privileged to have learnt so much about our culture and would love to spread my passion to others. I have taught Carnatic violin and vocal to younger students and ran Junior Med Soc during secondary school which has helped me enhance my leadership and time management skills. Moreover, I’ve participated in Tamil school dramas and was part of subcommittee this year helping out in Games Night and MM where I have improved my teamwork abilities and communication skills. Therefore, I believe these experiences have provided me with the qualities I’d need to be a great Head of Culture.
Not only would I love to continue doing events like Maaveerar Naal and Thai Pongal but I’d love to incorporate new ideas into TSoc. For example, starting Tamil lessons as I have completed my Tamil A Level, achieving an A* and feel as though I am knowledgeable enough to teach others what I know. I’d love to start termly Carnatic concerts as this is a side of music that we could explore further and give opportunities to musicians to showcase their talent. Also, starting saiva samaiya classes taught by tamil teachers that I have contacts for and who are passionate about culture and teaching so people have an opportunity to learn from experts directly.
I’d be grateful if you could vote for me. Thank you!
