Sean Sia
Hello, I'm Sean - a current first-year student studying Mechanical Engineering running for the position of Vice President for the Prototyping and Hacking Society.
As a candidate for the role of Vice President, I look forward to the potential chance to work with the President of the society, and all other committee members, in growing the society in the following academic year and organising a diverse range of engaging events for all members.
I will look to leverage my experiences to fulfil the responsibilities of this role to the best of my ability. During my time in high school, I gained experience using a range of workshop tools, 3D printers and laser cutters, working with wood and plastic. In the past year, I have added to this through the practical workshops in my course, learning to use lathes, milling machines, spot welders and many more, while working collaboratively with my peers to design a 3D-printed rocket as part of Space Society. Furthermore, I have experience with SolidWorks, Fusion, and Onshape. I hope to be able to use these to assist members during events, as well as help to brainstorm feasible ideas for future events.
I believe that this society has great potential. With the aim of growing awareness, as well as widening the scope of the society's events, I hope to collaborate with other societies for projects and events. If elected, I am confident that I have the skills and experiences to excel as Vice President. Thank you.
