Paediatrics: Community & Outreach Vice-Chair

My time on Paediatric Playteam this year has been incredibly rewarding and has instilled in me a desire to become more involved in this society, particularly to make more students aware of the amazing initiatives Paediatric society has and to help widen our community.

My experience on my school’s leadership team, subcommittee of ICMalluSoc and running a student business has equipped me with the communication and team working skills needed to foster meaningful connections in the society and enhance our outreach efforts.

Some of my ideas include

  • School outreach workshops: Going to local primary schools and youth centres to educate children on healthy behaviours, ranging from healthy eating and exercise to sleep and mental health
  • Public Awareness Campaigns: develop a social media page dedicated to raising awareness to common paediatric health issues, with a focus on maternal health too. Weekly vlogs and posts from doctors, researcher, medical students and parents to bring a range of perspectives
  • Fundraising: get more students involved in raising money for local and global paediatric health charities like GOSH and Save the Children, such as through competitions between years groups
  • Increase volunteer engagement: encourage more students to get involved with Playteam by sharing member testimonials as well as feedback from children of parents who benefited from the society.

I am eager to contribute my skills and vision as your Community and Outreach Vice-Chair and to support the society’s sustainable growth. If you have any questions, feel free to drop me an email at ams223@ic.ac.uk
