Hello!

I'm Dorsa, and for the past two years, I've been involved with Paediatric Society through Playteam and participating in conferences. I'm enthusiastic about broadening my contributions to the society which is why I’m running for Vice Chair for Community and Outreach.

As an active member of the RAG committee this year, I’ve gained valuable experience that directly aligns with the responsibilities of this role. Launching “Own It,” a public health initiative in collaboration with St Mary’s Hospital, has developed my organisational and leadership skills by coordinating meetings, developing session plans, recruiting volunteers, and overseeing educational sessions for +150 students. This experience has prepared me to engage effectively with schools, volunteers and students as Vice Chair.

I am committed to supporting the chair in organising a speaker series tailored for sixth form students, aimed at deepening their understanding of the roles within MDT. I plan to implement a clear timeline and event allocation spreadsheet to ensure seamless coordination between schools and speakers, maximising the impact of our school visits.

Additionally, I aim to introduce a 'mentoring buddy scheme' where students can connect with mentors for guidance. To ensure its effectiveness, I will establish feedback mechanisms to listen to students needs and preferences, to ensure that the mentoring program delivers optimal results.

Lastly, I am keen on collaborating with other societies to broaden our reach and impact. By working together, we can engage with a wider audience and strengthen our community outreach efforts.
