Poppy-Valerie Walker
I feel it this a role I could handle very competently. I have thoroughly enjoyed participating in Play Team at SMH this year, which has been great fun, as well as attending the Paeds conferences over the three years I’ve been a member. Participating in the MM Potmed conference for Year 13s was also very fulfilling this year, and I would be very happy to try and organise guidance to more budding medical students! Therefore, it would be great to help bring Paeds society to a wider multitude of children and young people, and assist the Chair in organising panels, events, and trips, to strengthen our existing relationships with organisations and hopefully forge some new ones within the community.
My committee experience in Teddy Bear Hospital would prove invaluable for this new role. Having directed the TBH subcommittee in year 2, as well as negotiating personally with the maker of our tiny teddy bears, I have shown I am adept at communicating within our society and outside of it. As School Liaison officer this year, composing an eloquent message and then pressing that little send button is one of my simple joys, whether in organising returns to our old haunts or reaching out to new schools. As a hyper-organised-control-freak, I’m unfazed when prodding for replies, answering emails at lightspeed, or sweating to meet last minute paperwork demands.
Overall with my experience and enthusiasm for outreach, I feel I would be ideal for this role.
Thank you for your consideration!
