Guowei Yang

Hello! We are Chaandni and Guowei and we would love to be your next Vision co-chairs.

We are passionate about widening participation (WP) and have 6 years combined experience working in WP. Namely, Chaandni has been on Vision committee as Roadshow Chair, and Guowei has organised the MMA day with Vision as an In2MedSchool volunteer. We have experience in running conferences, recruiting and leading volunteers, and have strong ties with organisations such as In2MedSchool and Social Mobility Foundation.

Our leadership experience includes Chaandni as leader of Imperielles (an A Cappella group) and Guowei as co-lead for Nutritank N4Y sessions. Through being in Imperielles and working on conferences, we know we work well together and are excited to join forces to support the next Vision committee.

Future ideas:

• Connecting with our alumni network for more work experience
• Improving volunteer recruitment through incentives like mocks and promoting events through social media
• Improving accessibility for students at events e.g extra time, additional audio support, liaising with Imperial’s Disability Advisory Service
• Have faculty presence at conferences to inform students about Imperial’s admissions process with Q&As
• Supporting committee members with check-ins, debriefs, and offering welfare support
• Re-introducing the newsletter and providing food for students at conferences
• Suggestions for conferences e.g subcommittee, BLS training, suturing workshops, mock UCAT

We are eager to implement changes that will maintain our WP student’s best interests at heart and we hope that you will vote for us as your Vision co-chairs!
