Hey there!

We are Zara and Kiana, and we are running to be this year’s Vision Presidents!

Having been involved with ICSM Vision over our time at medical school, we genuinely love the society, and are super passionate about widening participation (WP) to medical careers, through supporting those who need it most.

Having been through the medical application process ourselves, we have had time to recognise what’s missing: personalised support and connections to those in the field.

That’s why this year, we really want to create a Group Mentorship Programme for students. This would involve assigning a group of WP students to a personal mentor (current imperial medical student) who would be their first port of call for any questions, queries and support they may need.

Some other ideas we have!

• Start an online email newsletter which aspiring medical students can subscribe to, detailing the dates and events that Vision offers, as well as other opportunities
• Improve ICSM Vision’s social media accounts to expand the reach as wide as possible
• Talk to the Admission team and wider faculty, to get insight into Imperial interviews and how to impress the examiners

Given our extensive experience privately tutoring students from disadvantaged backgrounds, we can utilize these connections to boost attendance at conferences and events too.

We would love the opportunity to bring our ideas to life, and empower the next generation of healthcare professionals.
