Hi, I’m Defne, and I’m thrilled to be running for your City and Guilds College Union Events Officer. I believe that university should be about more than just lectures and assignments—it’s a time for making connections, having fun, and building a supportive community among all engineering students.
With my experience in event planning during my two gap years and as the head of events for my high school robotics team, I’ve organized everything from social gatherings to competitions and fundraisers. I’ve loved every moment of bringing people together, and I can’t wait to apply that passion and knowledge to our events at City and Guilds College Union.
If elected as your Events Officer, I will focus on creating fresh and exciting opportunities for all of us. Think themed socials, interdisciplinary mixers, and fun day trips that cater to the diverse interests within our community. My goal is to ensure that our events are accessible, inclusive, and, most importantly, memorable for everyone.
I’m also dedicated to improving how we communicate about events. I’ll use social media to keep you in the loop and excited about what’s coming up. Plus, I’ll work on securing sponsorships and partnerships to enhance our events and create even more networking and professional development opportunities.
