Zenji de Vera

I'm Zenji, a 3rd year biomed student, and I want to become this year's head of promotions for the cardiovascular society. Although all organs are vital, I have always been fascinated by the fact that the heart plays one of the most intricate roles in the human body. It is a dream of mine to become a cardiologist so I want to be more involved in cardiology related projects and events, and to meet people who share the same passion as me. As head of promotions, I will promote awareness about the events and projects to not only Imperial students but to professionals whom I communicate with regularly at current placement at Organa Tech, which is a company that creates high-fidelity organs used for surgical training. The long-term project I am currently responsible for is 3D printing a synthetic artificial heart and vascular bleeding models for trauma care. For this reason, I believe that being head of promotions is also an opportunity for my personal growth. Communicating with experts and fellow cardiology enthusiasts will deepen my understanding of cardiovascular health, emerging research and innovative treatments.
