Baba Odumeru

Hi everyone, I’m Baba, a 1^st Year Medic (again) and I would be honoured to be one of your ACS Events Officers.

Many of my best memories came from ACS events last year, which helped me meet people who I call family today. I want to replicate that for the next cohort of students, creating a place to meet their community, whilst building themselves up as young people who are more than just their degree. I look to generate innovative ideas which diversifies our society, whilst remembering what makes us African and Caribbean. I want to work on ensuring we host events that cater to every degree and interest, so we can improve attendance as the year progresses, from all year groups. My experience in planning and organising events comes from being Head Boy in Sixth Form and my most recent position as a Hall Senior, so I’m familiar with what it entails.

AIMS:

• Implement a survey at the end of every event, for feedback.
• Aim to plan events/space for events months in advance, to give students a look ahead for the year, and enough time to plan around their lives.
• Formulate risk assessments for every event to ensure we are operating in a safe and secure environment.
• Have a good blend of event types that cater to all interests.
