Lavanya Murki

Hi everyone I’m Lavanya, a third year medical student, and I’m running to be the education officer.

Obstetrics and gynaecology is an incredibly amazing specialty in medicine. It plays such a vital role in the lives of mothers and their children. It is a position that is held in such high regard because of how essential it is in medicine; it introduces a child into the world and when the mother is pregnant, it involves taking care of the mother so that the child is given the best possible start in life.

As education officer I aim to organise tutorials, workshops, networking events and conferences that can help students gain an insight into the world of obstetrics and gynaecology. I believe that by organising these events many more students will feel empowered to pursue a career in this specialty.

My previous experience involves being on committee as Early Years Representative in GP society which involved organising tutorials and being involved on committee with the annual conference. I have also been on subcommittee with Teddy Bear Hospital where I helped adapt stations in collaboration with Neurodiversity society.

I am a highly organised, driven and reliable individual and I will work hard to meet the responsibilities of my new role. I will ensure that I do my best in this position.
