Nikita James

Hi everyone! My name is Nikita and I am running for “Reconstructing the Stereotype” conference chair this year. I wanted to run for this role because having attended the conference this year, I was really inspired by the various speakers and found the workshops incredibly informative, I had never realised the wide range of applications the field of plastics encompassed!

I believe I’d be great for this role as I have demonstrated strong organisational and leadership skills. As Sponsorship Officer for the Transplant and Vascular Society, I successfully secured significant funding in our society’s first official year. I have also contributed to conference and teaching series planning, gaining firsthand experience in coordinating large-scale events. I have seen the amount of work required to bring these events to life, and I believe I am well equipped to deal with this level of responsibility. Additionally, having been a part of RAG committee, I have experience in helping with the organisation of several large-scale events throughout the year, and I have also demonstrated organisation and reliability in these roles.

If elected, I plan to start preparations early to ensure seamless execution. I will work to secure high-profile speakers from diverse backgrounds, broadening the perspectives shared. I also aim to enhance workshops, incorporating both fundamental techniques and specialist areas like trauma and gender-affirming surgery. Lastly, I will improve event promotion and outreach to expand our audience and engagement.
