Acute Care Specialities : Intensive Care Lead

Hello everyone! My name is Ronak and I am looking to get involved in Acute Care Specialties this year as your Intensive Care Lead.

A little bit about me: for two years prior to starting medical school I worked as an HCA on an acute psychiatric unit. As part of my role I learned to perform not only routine procedures such as venepunctures and ECGs but also provide lifesaving BLS and ILS interventions, many of which I've needed to apply in real-life emergencies. Being in these tense and high-pressure situations has shown me that I have a huge interest in Anaesthaesia and Intensive Care Medicine.

Being involved in various events from the society including Bloods and Brownies, ICACS Conference and the John Vogel lecture series this year has been fascinating. I've appreciated being given the opportunity to deepen my understanding of physiology in ways that would strengthen my future practice and learn things that I may apply to save lives. With your support and as Intensive Care Lead, I'd be able to help come up with and facilitate the delivery of engaging, new sessions for existing and incoming members. I'm looking forward to being involved next year!
