To say that competitions are at the heart of debating would be an understatement, and convening comps at both university and school level is a huge source of precious money for the Society.
But well-run competitions bring reputation. They bring trust, from universities, schools, IAs and CAs. Trust which contributes to the prestige of Imperial on the circuit.
Running a comp well is no easy task. From forms, to room bookings, to working (and sometimes putting up) with institutions and the Union, convenors must depend on things while being depended on.
As your Tournaments Director, I'll be your convenor-in-chief.
And I have something that makes me the best person for the job: concrete experience with convening a competition.
I pride myself in my communication and organization. While running Imperial Juniors I communicated with several different parties, even when this wasn't always pleasant. My meticulous organization kept everyone on the same page.
My attention to detail, professionalism and commitment is unparalleled, from my convenor briefings (which others have used!) to my email templates, to the time I ran around three buildings to list the tags on every single card reader.
On the day of the comp, I am a positive, reassuring presence for attendees and other convenors who rely on my direction.
I'm constantly retaining best practices from the past, which helps to streamline convening in future, as well as train the next generation of convenors.
TL;DR: Vote Manomay as your Tournaments Director for experience and proven reliability at Imperial competitions!
