Attending various Muslim Medic events has genuinely brightened my university experience, offering not just inspiration and advice but a sense of belonging, which is why I want to give back by helping others access similar opportunities, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds.
As someone who received limited support during my own application process (due to a lack of medical applicants at my base school and support from teachers), I understand firsthand how difficult the journey can feel. That’s why the idea of 'PotMed on Tour' resonates strongly with me, and I’d love to help lead such an event, creating an accessible and engaging outreach space for prospective medical students!!
I think I'd be suitable for this position as I have relevant experience tutoring applicants through personal statements, interviews, and admissions tests. My communication skills and organisational abilities would be valuable assets in coordinating a conference environment and would work great in a team with my fellow PotMed lead, Vice President and volunteers.
Also, I have existing links with my former sixth form and its partner schools in North London, comprising four institutions, making it possible to host an in-person event. I’m confident that we can deliver a well-run, inclusive programme if given the chance and with the right support.
I’d be excited to contribute as an Event Lead and support other key events like freshers and mocks, helping to show others the values and mission that Muslim Medics represents!
