As a current medical student, I understand how overwhelming and competitive the application process can be. I’m applying to be a Lead for Potmed Intensive because I believe in the power of preparation, accessibility, and personalised guidance—especially for students who may not otherwise have access to the resources they need.
If appointed, I would expand Potmed’s reach by initiating outreach to schools with low medical application rates, offering talks to demystify the process and encourage early preparation.
I’d propose creating high-quality digital and printable booklets with structured interview questions, mock answers, and detailed tips for MMIs, UCAT, and personal statements. These would act as self-paced resources students can use before and after our intensives.
I’d also prioritise ensuring that every student receives feedback at each MMI station. While feedback is already part of the programme, I believe more consistent oversight can make it even more impactful.
Additionally, I’d introduce the option for students to submit personal statements after the intensives for detailed, personalised feedback—helping them feel supported beyond the day itself.
To further build community, I’d create a WhatsApp group so students can ask follow-up questions after the session—especially if they were too shy or overwhelmed to ask during.
I’m passionate, organised, and committed to making a real difference in the lives of aspiring medics. I believe Potmed can be a lasting source of confidence and clarity for every student we reach.
