Xiaoxue Zhou
I‘m Pouya, and I’m currently a Year 3 Civil Eng student. I’m honoured to stand for the position of Vice Chair of the Civil Engineering Society.
I’m someone who enjoys bringing people together and helping things run smoothly behind the scenes. I believe the Vice Chair role is about exactly that—supporting the Chair, keeping the committee organised, and ensuring our events and initiatives reflect the needs and voices of our community.
What I bring to this role is a balance of creativity and structure. I enjoy coming up with new ideas, but I also take pride in making sure those ideas are realistic and well-executed. I’m approachable, reliable, and committed to working hard—whether that means helping plan events, communicating with staff and industry partners, or stepping in when the Chair is unavailable.
Over the past few years, I’ve built strong relationships across the department and gained a clear sense of what helps our society thrive. If elected, I’ll focus on making our activities more inclusive, meaningful, and engaging for everyone—whether you're attending your first social or helping organise an industry talk.
I’m not running just for a title—I truly care about this community, and I see this as a chance to give back, support the committee, and help create an environment where every student feels welcomed and represented.
If you’re looking for someone who will show up, follow through, and support the society with both dedication and a smile, I’d be grateful for your vote.
