Design Engineering (UG): Year Two Academic Representative

I know what you're thinking. “Why would I vote Safaa? She did it last year!” I hear you - here’s why I’m better than the other candidates :)

Experience

I understand the ins and outs and have learnt a LOT: what works what doesn’t, and who best to contact for each concern. I’ve made my mistakes and I’ve learnt from them.

Speedy

I raise concerns within the week. It’s essential to get answers ASAP. I gather information, pass it on via email, and request in-person meetings; the best way to persuade someone is face-to-face.

Passion

I enjoyed being academic rep last year and genuinely want another go! It’s imperative to represent the student voice unbiased by amplifying your voices, especially my peers who struggle to speak for themselves.

Plans

I have bigger and better plans this year, like planning events rigorously to ensure they’re exactly what you want. I’m learning and growing, always taking feedback from you (throwback to the many google forms). Also I wanna get a sweet treat after every exam :p

accomplishments

DEP: new marking criteria, standardised feedback, more definitive tasks
M&M: fixed issue of past papers on blackboard + checked content for our exam was reduced
SM1: fixed issue of different parameters for bouncer
HCD: changed peer-review due to complaints, formative to summative
Electronics: lab-oral feedback fixed
Data science: suitable matlab workaround
General: chased professors to release marks
