Bioengineering (UG): Year One Academic Representative (Molecular Bioengineering)

Hi, I’m Sean Wu, and I’m running to be your Year One Academic Representative for Molecular Bioengineering. I’m passionate about building a strong academic community where every student’s voice is heard and valued.

As your representative, my top priorities will be to
1. Collect your feedback on academic related issues in the course throughout the year and pass your ideas to the department
2. Act as your voice in student-staff committees
3. Lobby for positive changes in teaching, resources, and academic support

In order to deliver upon these aims, I will use my experience from being the Chemistry Society coordinator at 6th form college and student ambassador at my seocndary school. I collaborated with other members to organize activities in the society and held mentoring sessions for students for additional academic support. This strengthened my communication and organization skills by working with others to ensure systems run smoothly and effectively. I also bring experience from volunteering in hospital wards, where I learnt about empathy, teamwork and active listening, helping me understand and represent different perspectives with respect and care.

Studying Molecular Bioengineering excites me because it combines creativity with problem-solving, and I want to make sure our course reflects that spirit. I want to foster an academic environment where students can share ideas, raise concerns, and celebrate successes together.

Vote for me, Sean Wu — someone who listens, acts, and genuinely cares about your university experience. Let’s make our first year one to remember — together.
