Bioengineering (UG): Year One Academic Representative (Molecular Bioengineering)

Hi everyone! I’m Heidi, a first-year Molecular Bioengineering student, and I’m running for Academic Rep^^

Starting uni has been exciting but also a little overwhelming! Many of us, especially those without A Level Physics or Further Maths, have found parts of the course challenging, and I want to make sure no one feels left behind.

As Academic Rep, my goal is to make our academic experience more supportive, transparent, and rewarding. I’ll make sure everyone’s voice is heard, whether it’s about lecture pace, workload, or lab feedback, and I’ll communicate your concerns directly to staff and the student union to push for real change.

If elected, I plan to:

  • Create easy, open feedback channels (anonymous forms, drop-in chats and coffee catch-ups)
  • Advocate for more interactive, hands-on learning opportunities, such as problem-solving sessions
  • Strengthen the sense of community through study groups and events across years
  • Keep everyone informed with regular updates and progress bulletins

I’m genuinely passionate about helping us all get the most out of our degree. Together, we can make Molecular Bioengineering an even better experience for everyone!
