Aarin Rakesh
Hello everyone,
My name is Aarin Rakesh, and I’m a first-year Mechanical Engineering undergraduate from Singapore. I’m running to be your Wellbeing Representative because I care deeply about creating a supportive and inclusive community where every student feels heard and valued.
Having lived in three different countries, I understand the challenges of adapting to a new environment far from home. These experiences have shaped my ability to approach wellbeing issues with empathy, fairness and understanding, ensuring that no one feels alone during this important transition.
If elected, I will:
- Strengthen connections within our cohort so that everyone feels included and supported both academically and personally.
- Prioritise wellbeing and safety by communicating concerns to faculty and finding effective solutions.
- Work with student services and organisations to introduce sessions on personal finance and time management, helping students adjust confidently to university life.
My leadership experience in sixth form taught me to handle sensitive matters with care and discretion. Wellbeing starts with listening, and I’ll always be approachable and available - whether for a chat or to discuss ways to improve our experience at Imperial.
It would be an honour to represent the first-year Mechanical Engineering cohort this autumn and to help make our community supportive, positive and united.
