Amrin Muhamed

Biochemistry (UG): Year Two Wellbeing Representative

Imperial is an exciting but fast-paced environment, and many of us know how overwhelming it can sometimes feel. Between lectures, labs, and everything else going on in our lives, it’s easy to lose track of our well-being. I want to make sure that no one feels alone in that.

As your Wellbeing Rep, I want to be someone you can talk to openly, whether it’s about academic pressure, personal challenges, or just needing a chat. My goal is to help make our department a space where everyone feels supported, understood, and genuinely cared for.

In the past, I’ve had the opportunity to serve as a Mental Health Ambassador, where I helped organise awareness campaigns, signposted people to the right support, and learnt how to listen with empathy and discretion. I am also currently the Head of Special Affairs at ISOC, a role that involves creating safe, inclusive spaces for students from diverse backgrounds and helping to resolve personal and group challenges. Both of these experiences have taught me the importance of active listening, confidentiality, and working collaboratively to make a difference.

If elected, I’d love to continue fostering that same supportive atmosphere within our Biochemistry community. Whether it’s promoting wellbeing events, sharing useful resources, or simply checking in with one another, I’ll do my best to make sure everyone feels heard and valued.

Most of all, I want to be approachable and friendly — someone you can come to anytime, for anything, big or small. :)
