Hi! I’m Begüm, I am a second year Biochemist and I’ve been obsessed with synthetic biology since high school! As a LinkedIn Warrior (as some of my friends say...) I enjoy connecting with people within this field and searching for opportunities where Imperial students can also take part in. As your sponsorship officer my aim will be to contact within Imperial and outside Imperial resources to enhance our events (like the Frontiers in Scientific Research Summit) and to expand our outreach. I never shy away from an email and at this point, I write emails for fun.
Besides that, I can provide more than my committee position. I am willing to help organise events (like lab visits and workshops) and I think we can utilise Imperial’s resources much better. If we get good funding, I believe that we can even conduct our own research projects using the Advanced Hackspace, sort of like an iGEM within Imperial. I will be volunteering at this year’s competition so I promise to bring back all sorts of connections from my experiences to our society.
