Transplant and Vascular Society: VP of Transplant Surgery

Hi everyone,

My name is Vishal and I am a fourth year medical student. My candidacy for Vice President could be summarised into one line - To transform theoretical knowledge into tangible, career-defining experiences

As part of this, if elected I will create and deliver the following:

  • Enhanced Clinical Exposure: As VP, I will establish a structured "Transplant Shadowing Pathway," securing short-term observation placements on the transplant wards, theatre lists, and outpatient clinics for our members. This goes beyond lectures, providing real-world insight into the multidisciplinary management of organ failure and transplantation. This will also be beneficial for your portfolios and will help you get to know experts in the field.

  • Specialized Skills Workshops: I will coordinate a series of practical workshops led by senior registrars and consultants, focusing on core transplant skills like vascular anastomosis simulation, organ preservation techniques, and managing post-operative complications.

  • Future of Transplantation: I will launch a mini conference, bringing in researchers to discuss cutting-edge topics—from normothermic machine perfusion to xenotransplantation—ensuring our members are able to learn from experts about transformative technology and research in the field.

My goal is the bridge the gap between textbook and theatre and help you become a highly informed and critically engaged future transplant surgeon.
