David Wu
Hi, I am David, a second-year mathematician. As the current External Vice for the Imperial College Mathematics Society (MathSoc), I am responsible for building a productive relationship with our 10+ industry-leading sponsors through prompt and professional communication. Moreover, I was handling the negotiation and administrative process for contracts and organising career events such as the MathSoc Career Fair.
Despite my experience in my academic committee, I am also an active member of numerous societies, including cycling, photography, and surfing. This allows me to gather opinions from a diverse background of the current cohort. Additionally, I have taken Philosophy and Law and Professional Ethics for Science as my horizon and i-Explore modules, which are hugely relevant for the strategic and legal thinking required for the role.
These experiences together give me great confidence in representing our current cohort on the board of trustees in a professional manner. I care deeply about the development of our college and would like to contribute to student perspectives from both an academic and wellbeing view. If elected, I will strive to gather first-hand opinions and feedback from students and liaise them effectively and professionally to the board, to help the college facilitate changes in the right direction.
