Dodgeball: Men's 1st Team Captain
Many of you will probably know me (in some form of drinking capacity), but if you have not downed many a shot with me, I’m Jake, a 4th-year medical student running for the position of Men’s 1st Team Captain. While my dodgeball skills are still something to be desired, there are a couple of things that I can bring to the court that will help the team, and the wider club, succeed competitively next year.
Active involvement in player development:
- Fostering an environment where new and existing players can thrive and reach their full potential.
- Providing dedicated feedback to those who want it, both after trials and throughout the year.
- Selecting at least one player from the 2s/3s to play for the 1s at every Open to challenge players. Personally, playing in more abled teams (shout out to Grey Wolverines) helped me develop more as a player.
- Encouraging keen players to attend training sessions at community dodgeball clubs.
Team training:
I want to make more active use of the training sessions that we have, by:
- Utilising training sessions with team drills, game scenarios, and focus on areas needing improvement.
- Providing opportunities for full matches on a proper-sized court to emulate match day.
- Incorporating player feedback on individual and team improvement goals.
Socials!!!!!
- Organise team socials after matches (after the showers of course) to gel as a team.
- My time as social secretary will come in handy here :)
