Hari Balaji
Dear Dodgy Members,
The Challenge: Our first team is set to lose nearly half of its members next year, including some of our most skilled and experienced players. This presents a formidable challenge for the team next year.
Experience in Rebuilding: In my current role as the 2nd Team Captain, I have faced a similar situation this year, with zero returning members from the previous men's 2s. With a handful of men's 3s and freshers, I am proud to say that we rebuilt the men's 2s into an absolute beast, even managing to tie against the mighty Birmingham. This experience has equipped me with valuable insights into rebuilding, training, and leading a new team – skills that are essential for the successful revitalization of our first team.
Unique Perspective: While other first-team players may not have encountered such a situation, I bring a unique perspective that aligns with the challenges we are about to face. I understand what it takes to forge a cohesive unit, blend individual talents, and create a winning culture. My strategic vision involves identifying and nurturing emerging talents, implementing training drills inspired by successful teams like London Storm and Saints, and providing more low-risk opportunities for the team, including regional league and opens.
I've made my share of mistakes as captain this year, but I've learned and grown, building an immensely strong 2s team that I'm proud of. With our massive squad depth, I am confident the 1s will be a force to reckon with.
