Elakya Saravanakumar
Hello everyone, we are Elakya and Dharun and we are running to be your conference chairs. Having loved the huge variety of speakers and workshops at this year’s conference, we would love to oversee hosting this amazing event next year.
Elakya: Events organisation is something I thoroughly enjoy and putting on the neuroscience conference would be an absolute honour. To do this, I will use my experience of organising several school dances, which involved sourcing entertainment, arranging catering and liaising with the school’s management team. I understand the challenges of putting on an event and having overcome these in the past, I am certain that we can put on a successful conference.
Dharun: My interest for neuroscience stems from undertaking an EPQ regarding the development of the brain. Additionally, having chaired the TedX talks at my school, I have experience in organising the different elements involved in running a successful lecture-based event, providing me with invaluable organisational, leadership and problem-solving skills.
Our main aims for the upcoming year are:
- Ensuring that the whole day of lectures and workshops runs smoothly and caters to all students, regardless of their degree.
- Introducing a more interactive element into the workshops, for instance doing a live EEG.
- Covering a wide range of topics in the conference, ranging from neurosurgery to the mechanics of the brain to pathologies of neurodegenerative diseases.
- Collaborating with other universities to make this a national conference.
Vote for us if you want Imperial’s biggest and best neuroscience conference yet!
