Hey everyone! I’m Jing, and I’ll be running as your Academic Year Representative. Let me start with my relevant experiences: I’m the Student Council’s Academic Officer at my previous college! There, I successfully negotiated for the library’s operation hour extension and the alteration of the exam schedule for students' interests. I also managed Peer Tutoring Programme and hosted alumni events.
Being an Academic Representative, ensuring your opinion is comprehended is my utmost priority. As a former intern in a member of parliament’s office, here are some of my ideas:
- Create an official WhatsApp Community (Acad Channel) for announcements and reminders of academic or career-related issues, integrating with the existing unofficial discussion group
- Create a Google Form for complaints and coffee chat arrangements regarding the issue. Feedback forms will be distributed monthly.
- Create an Academic Drive which integrates Year 1 Past Years, lecturer notes, relevant videos, and potentially related ebooks, senior notes and assignments.
- Negotiate with the department for potential solutions for those who forget to check in on their Imperial app for attendance.
- Introduce the Peer Tutoring Programme. Each week tutee can sign up for a one-hour session and will be paired with seniors or peers (a.k.a tutors). Recognition awards will be further discussed with the department.
