Hello! I’m Odhrán. Well done to everyone for making it through your first year on the path to doctorship!! Looking at the increased workload we face this year, I’m standing to represent you as your voice to the faculty and hopefully make your life a little easier along the way!

If elected, I’d prioritise:

• Enhanced CPA support: This is our first ever practical assessment and an important milestone in our progression. For many this is undoubtedly daunting, especially as we have little idea of what to expect. I’d push for more mocks and CPA specific teaching during CAS so we are continuously prepared throughout the year.

• Greater transparency in marking criteria: Last year, I felt the lack of faculty-provided self-testing resources for our exams made it difficult to know exactly how to approach questions, especially SAQs. The benefit of our mocks could’ve been significantly improved had detailed feedback been provided alongside scores. This year, no mocks have been timetabled at all! I’d strongly push for this to be changed and detailed feedback provided, as it seems counterproductive to learning for this to be withheld.

• PVB Improvements: It’s no secret PVB sessions aren’t well attended, yet it’s marked with significant weighting. I’d campaign for sessions to become more interactive and structured with more resources directly relating to how we’re assessed, as I feel last year’s exam questions were answered by most based on intuitive guessing.
