Friends of Médecins Sans Frontières: Fundraising Coordinator

I would love to be given the opportunity to be a Fundraising Coordinator for FoMSF. With the current political climate, I feel that establishing my priorities within Medicine has become substantially more important to me and I am eager to pursue this through supporting MSF via fundraising efforts. With MSF relying on fundraising so heavily for their funding, it is one of the major ways we as students can contribute to humanitarian efforts and I feel very driven to be a part of navigating this. My main focuses would be making fundraising events more frequent, widespread and varied in order to build a strong FoMSF community at Imperial and provide many opportunities for students to get involved.

This September, I raised £1,500 for Refugee Action and the Ajyal Foundation (supporting education for Palestinian children) by swimming 2 miles in Serpentine lake in Hyde Park at SwimSerpentine (London’s biggest open water swimming event). I found this experience incredibly rewarding and it enabled me to develop my promotional skills. I am keen to put these skills to use and co-ordinate similar opportunities for FoMSF. I have gained organisational skills through tutoring and working for the company Prodigy, in which I managed tasks in sales, packaging, social media and company errands. Through volunteering at the PotMed conference, I cemented skills of prompt, responsive communication, working well under pressure and being a reliable member of a team. I would endeavour to use all of these skills in the role of Fundraising Co-ordinator.
