Hi! My name is Nilani, and I would love to be your fundraising coordinator at MSF!

I am deeply distressed by the humanitarian crises unfolding in Palestine, Lebanon and Congo. It is upsetting to see thousands of people suffering without access to basic medical care, especially in conflict zones. Now more than ever, I feel it is important to contribute to global efforts that provide emergency medical care, and I believe I can organise fundraising initiatives to drive MSF's main goal.

My volunteering experience at multiple healthcare services including hospital charities deepened my commitment to supporting healthcare initiatives, especially for those who are vulnerable. As Sponsorship Officer for ICSM MWF, I gained experience negotiating and building rapport with external organisations to secure funding, sharpening my communication and organisation skills - key for planning successful fundraising events. My work as a private tutor for over 5 years strengthened my organisation and adaptability, enabling me to plan a well-structured event. These experiences have equipped me with the skills to be an effective fundraising coordinator.

If elected, I will organise diverse and creative events like an escape room or silent disco to raise awareness for MSF. Moreover, I plan to collaborate with other societies eg Imperial Friends of Palestine to raise funds for humanitarian aid in regions that need it. I aim to contribute to a cause that provides access to basic healthcare during such dire times.
