Respiratory Medicine: Conference Chair
Hi there! I’m Ian and I’m running for Conference Chair.
As part of this year's subcommittee, I was not only able to acquire valuable insight into RespSoc's organizational framework but also to witness the constructive impact of our annual National Undergraduate Respiratory Conference (NURC) on my peers. Serving as Conference Chair will allow me to facilitate a cohesive and meaningful NURC experience for all and give back in the way I'm best suited.
Aims:
- Hybrid Conference Format – Offering both in-person and virtual attendance to maximize participation.
- Simulation Workshops – Interactive stations for bronchoscopy, chest drain insertion, lung ultrasound, and ventilator management.
- Multidisciplinary Case Challenges – Team-based sessions involving medical students, radiologists, physiotherapists, and critical care doctors to solve complex respiratory cases.
- Patient-Led Talks – Inviting individuals with asthma, COPD, or cystic fibrosis to share their experiences and improve patient-centered learning.
Qualifications:
- 4 yrs+ teaching experience for MedEd, private tutoring, charity organizations - equipped me with insight to tailor programs for students to learn best
- VRiMS (Virtual Reality in Medicine and Surgery)/Ortho+Resp+SORA representative - extensive experience organizing 15+ conferences/workshops
- EU Hi-Prix Internship Team Leader - developed strong leadership and organizational capacity, organized digital meetings and coordinated intern team members to complete data collection tasks on pharmaceutical public policy
