Badriyah Islam
I’m Badriyah :) running to be your Academic Rep!
Our penultimate year brings with it unique challenges: more placements, variation, more responsibility. I’m standing because I care about making this year run as smoothly as possible. I’m ready to listen and be a voice that carries yours forward with clarity and commitment.
Strong academic representation has always helped to improve quality of teaching or raising concerns around placements and timetables. I want to build on this legacy and bring a fresh, proactive approach rooted in communication and care.
I’m committed to making sure every voice is heard. I personally understand the value of inclusive representation that truly reflects our cohort. I’ll ensure the diversity of our year is seen, heard, and respected.
I bring experience from across campus and beyond:
- For four years, I’ve run and built a curriculum for a weekly interview programme, and delivering a full-scale mock MMI for over 150 students.
- Chair of a major cultural society, organising events, liaising with vendors, and faculty, which has put me in a position where I feel confident advocating for shared opinions.
- Manager of a global student fundraising initiative, coordinating across universities internationally.
- Mentoring younger medics through tutorial opportunities
These roles have taught me to lead with empathy and bring people together around a shared goal. I will carry these skills into this role to advocate for us.
I hope to represent us and to help make Year 5 not just something we get through, but something we grow through.
