Hello everyone!

I’m Rae! I’m running for Year Academic Representative because I want to help you — talking to a rep is an approachable way to voice your concerns, especially when navigating this new environment. As a reserved person who developed my own confidence over the past few years, I see you! If I am elected, I will reach out to as many people as possible, to ensure you are heard and any bumps in your academic experience are smoothened out. Whether that’s through casual chats, texts, or emails, let me know about any problems and I will get to it promptly!

My past leadership experiences enabled me to deeply understand the importance of feedback from the student body in enacting change. I’d like to expand on this in university.

Why would I be a good fit?

My experiences:

• Planned many initiatives addressing the needs of different target groups, where I liaised with various parties — students, teachers, NGOs, etc. I follow a servant leadership style, seeking to uplift team members in addition to meeting event objectives.
• 6 years of leadership experience in different roles: Vice President of an environmental club, Peer Support Leader (student wellbeing), Student Council member, and Logistics Manager of a volunteering group.

My key principles:

• Listening, empathy first. Understanding problems in depth, through various perspectives, before executing solutions.
• Integrity, building a high trust environment
• Very receptive to feedback and constructive criticism
• Highly committed and responsible; I won't give up halfway!
• Curiosity!
